Enthusiast III
Howdy! Just moved to South Florida from Eureka, CA (hi Mike) and here I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero/Pajero with winter packed. Winter packed means it came with heated seats, headlight washers and Rear Differential Lock. I decided on the Montero because my family has had a few of the 1st and 2nd generations and have been great. We used them as a vacation vehicle whenever we went to Puerto Rico for the summers. Definitely a Jeep and Montero country. Points in which made the choice on the Montero were:
No, that is not me. That is my sibling using my vehicle for a hammock in Miami.
I purchased this vehicle in Augusts 2015 after losing my car in a rollover. Due to lack of funds, I had to find a vehicle for cheap that needed work. So far I have done all the maintenance work aside from the timing belt.
Work done so far:
Fuel Filter
Several Engine Oil Flushes.
Lower Ball Joints
Pitman Arm
Idler Arm
Fron CV Shafts replacement
Front Wheel Bearings
Front Brake Rotors and Pads
Rear Brake Rotors and Pads
Shocks (Bilstein 4600)
Transmission Fluid Flush
Coolant Flush
Front Differential Fluid Exchange
Rear Differential Fluid Exchange
Transfer Case Fluid Exchange
Timing Belt with Water Pump and Tension
Front Camshaft Seals
Crankshaft Seals
33x10.5/15 BFG All Terrain KO2
Lots and Lots of undercarriage Pressure Washing.
Needs Work:
ABS diagnosis
Rear Diff Locker Pump (Damaged during some water fun)
Upper Ball Joints
Driver's Seat Electronics (doesn't move)
Radio (Damaged during some water fun)
Engine Rebuild in the near future. Not needed but I'm sure it would be better since the vehicle has 195k miles and I have only owned it for 10k miles.
Window Regulators are moving slow. Maybe rail cleaning?
Sun Roof not moving. hear motor working, not moving. Not important
I am currently still working with the maintenance of the vehicle and clean up...
Here I was at Lazy Springs Recreational Park in South Florida. Unfortunately I found a hole and I sunk.
And here I have removed the interion in order to clean everything. Not just from the diving incident but also from the previous owners. It was disgusting.
Next I will be working on the window regulators and insulation prior to ordering new carpet and reinstalling all interior pieces. For insulation I am thinking about Reflectix which has been used my many van camper conversions. Figured it would be worth it and on a budget.
As time goes by I will be posting more photos of the Maintenance and eventually upgrades. Stay tuned.
