Would it be possible to have "Mark as read" button or icon next to each thread when viewing "New Posts". At the moment, it's only possible to mark all as read using the "Mark forums read" button at the top.
Sometimes, it would be useful to mark as read some that aren't of interest, but leave others as unread to come back to later.
