Mammoth Mountain, CA: Expecting Up to 20 Feet of Snow

Saw a LA Times article discussing how Mammoth Mountain is to receive up to 20 feet during this recent storm and thought some on the forums here would be interested. Here's a video from the article:

Been up there when two feet of snow dumped overnight and it was still snowing for the rest of the next day, it was crazy. Not much was going on and 2 days later they closed the roads down into Mammoth for a couple of days. But you know it was so fun to play in the snow. Just keep your reserve stocks of food on hand.

Great snow fall storms are awesome. I remember in the eighties when our family cabin was snowed in completely. The only visible sign of the cabin was about one foot of the peak of the A frame roofline and the chimney top. We got in through the balcony on the second floor. We actually had to dig down into the balcony... The upside to storms like this; they replenish our aquifers. The downside to storms like this; the locals are really the only ones who get to enjoy them fully. Most of us that have to travel usually get dissuaded by the closed roads...

I just read that the storm heading into California this weekend will raise the snow level to 9000 ft with lots of rain. They expecting the flooding to be really bad, they are probably closing Yosemite because the high water mark is expected to be 1 ft higher than in 1997 when the valley flooded.
