If you don't need anything padded, we really like our
Grand Trunk Parasheet. Our original one finally gave up the beginning of this year (after 8 years) so we bought another. We also bought a waterproof one 4 years ago but Mandi only uses that one under her Yoga mat to keep it from getting wet. We use our Parasheet at the beach (has corner pockets for sand to hold it down), on grass (has corner loops to stake it), and we use it as a side panel for our ARB awning (an S clip attached to one of the corner loops to attach it to our awning via one of the holes in the front frame, a small bungee looped through the other top loop that connects to the awning mount, then paracord and stakes connected to the bottom loops if needed). It packs down into an included pouch that is permanently attached to it and is slightly larger than a two person ENO double hammock. We have used it under a blanket when the ground was riddled with roots. We also carry a couple of small throw pillows that Mandi made washable cases for out of outdoor material, we sit on those if it's really hard on our bums.
Here's a photo of it being used as a side panel, our van is the orange one, but we didn't need to stake the bottom. It just cuts the sun down so one still get a sun burn if you spend a long time using it for shade.
