Looking for dog friendly 4x4 camping with fishing in northern, CA

Looking for a place for a weekend trip where there is camping near fishable water. Mild to moderate trails with a full size rig and ideally secluded.

Just did crater lake south of tahoe, nice but very short trail. And coyote flats, which I would do again but with stops was a 7hr drive to get there.

Any suggestions? Preferably within 4-5 hrs from the bay area.

I was looking at lake alpine, hoping for more secluded and out of the way but I may go check it out.

If you head up HW4 further, you will find Mosquito Lake, which also has camping and good fishing.

Red Lake is right on Hwy 88, for something further from the hwy head south through Hope Valley on Blue Lakes road and check out Upper Blue Lake. Excellent spot at 8200' and you can get in there over Forestdale Rd. from Red Lake as well. Beautiful country bordering Desolation Wilderness. Several other smaller lakes in the area.
