26-MAY-2022 UPDATE: On May 25, 2022, the Lincoln National Forest entered Stage 3 Fire Restrictions, which close the forest. There is no public access allowed on any part of the forest. All trails, campgrounds, recreation sites, picnic sites and dispersed camping areas are closed until conditions improve or until July 30.

As a result we will postpone this trip until later this year.
However, because I already have blessing to do a trip this weekend, I will post an alternate RP location.

See link below, the Lincoln NF is closed to backcountry use effective this weekend. Highly likely this trip will need to be scrubbed. Lots of closures in NM due to the dozen+ wildfires they have been dealing with. Unless you want to pivot the group trip to the Sangre De Cristo area in Colorado which is probably where I'll end up going if the smoke isn't too bad. Not sure but my usual spots in NM are in a bad way this year. Even Great Sand Dunes in CO has burned :(
