On a separate note. what did you mount the bracket for the radio to? \

Have you tried the garmin or the phone near the A pillar? I have been trying to fabricate a mount for the phone between the visors, where your radio is and run USB down to radio head unit.

Now that I am back home for a bit I will have more time to play with the interior. was in the jeep for better part of 3 weeks. so have lots of thoughts.

I made a bracket out of some plate punched some holes and used the sun visor clip screws to hold it. Works great. On another note I have moved my gps over by the a pillar now and then will order a custom ram mount for my phone to the left of my tablet.

Looks like your hood has the same paint job mine does. :)

Thanks for the answer. I was wondering if they were strong enough to hold more than the visor clips.

No problem. They hold great! Don’t vibrate or anything. And yeah I’m going to repaint soon.

When I had my TJ I used an old mile marker sign and mounted it to my front window frame using existing screw holes and then mounted the back to the bottom side of the roll bar.

Consolidate systems. I have a WK2 Grand Cherokee with the visibility of a middle ages war helmet. GPS is out of the rig now that I have Gaia app on the tablet. I load it in advance (or using WiFi on the road) and it goes on a Ram Mount near the middle of the dash. IPhone goes in the center console or under my leg. Paper maps for redundancy.

1st I too have an xj and short on space.

2nd how did you mount your CB

3rd I use x-grips from ram mount for my cell phone and GPS. For my tablet I use a ram mount no drill floor mount. works great for my tablet. I love the ram mounts for sure. I thought about getting away from the suction cups and using a dill mount to the plastic trim on my A post.

I cut a metal plate and drilled a couple holes and used the visor clip screws to hold it up. But I have changed a couple things I went to an old iPhone for navigation instead of that tablet and it’s over close to my a pillar.

I don't like the suction cups either. It's only a matter of time before they fall, regardless of how good. I have used Ram's mirror attachment mount balls. You can just glue another one of those mirror attachments where you need it and mount the Ram on that.

Also, I remember seeing a post where a guy mounted a 1inch by 1/8 aluminum piece about 10 inches long across the top of his dash. To that, he added the Ram ball mounts and could then mount and remove easily his GPS, etc.

I did that yesterday. I wish I did it sooner. Makes things cleaner. I keep toying with the idea of building an overhead consul for my XJ. I thought about pulling one out of a mini van but I would have to modify it to fit my needs.

I envy you, I have a sunroof and it’s really in my way and making it difficult to add stuff like that.

Here is my previous set up using a pedestal mount. Now that I am in my 93 I may try a couple Scosche magnet mounts on brackets that will cover the radio and heater controls. Will get a new am/fm radio with a remote so that I don't have to see the radio to change the channel or volume, but the tablet will easily pop off to be stowed away or if I need to adjust something. The 93 is a manual trans so I can't mount the tablet and radio in the same configuration.

Dealing with the same issue here.. I currently have a go pro mount on my dash for taking trail videos and a suction cup mount for my phone. I wanted to get the phone off the window so purchased one of these..

My JK still has the factory CD player and I haven't played a CD in 10 years. This little mount is super tough and works perfect. I have recently even mounted my tablet on it just to see if it would hold. The magnet is super strong.
