This is the Las Vegas Chapter of Overland Bound. Our goal is to create monthly (or more) events that promote safety in numbers when out on the trail, cultivate friendships and explore our great state of Nevada and our neighbors, California, Utah and Arizona. If you have ideas for places to go explore, please post a comment!

I heard there is a trail that can be taken around the lake and the powder. I jave not taken it but a friend of mine who has done the road many times is going to show me the route and I will share with the group!I would like to do the Alamo Rd too. What concerns me is the chance of getting stuck in the poof dirt. Anyone done this road? What’s been your experience? The Alamo road would be cool. I know we did Mormon well road already but it’s a little different.

It is a cool little adventure, but if in a fullsize truck the trail gets pretty narrow in a few places. I did it in a Ram 2500 so it can be done, but warn your passenger before heading up! Haha! Its on the list. Stay tuned!!The ghost town of Delamar is pretty cool to see. Its south of 93 about 20 miles west of Caliente.
I’ve done it in the past and it’s not bad at all. Washboard yes, not crazy silty though. Fun adventure for sure we could also scout camp sites.I heard there is a trail that can be taken around the lake and the powder. If I remember correctly this is a RSVP event due to only a specific number of rigs allowed. I think it was 50 and those spots were filled and you need to get on a waiting list to attend. I would hate for someone to drive out and not be able to attend. We will probably be heading out Thursday afternoon. That way we can travel Friday to see the sights.
I am double posting here as well as the Facebook page. Sorry if annoying.
Thursday 04.22.21 - For the new people that want to travel the Mojave Road, arrive at the staging area off of Needles Highway to spend the night. This is a large open wash just west of the highway. Make sure you fuel up in Needles, Fort Mojave or the Avi Casino before heading to camp.
Needles Highway and Mojave Road turn off 35.051650 -114.676625. There will be an OLB flag at this location. Thursday camp will be in the area of 35.055651 -114.689897.
Friday 04.23.21 - Leave camp between 0800-0900 hrs. drive the Mojave Road to the Base Camp. View the sites along the way and clean up as needed. Everyone at the event will stay at the Thomas Base camp Friday night. Base Camp (Thomas Place/Ranch) 35.175409 -115.462134
