Very cool doc vid; chock full of history, race to explore and conquer, and some really cool old illustrations and maps. Saved.
.
I felt somehow less of a man because 2 million other people had already watched it and I didn't even know it existed. LOL

But yes, some very cool stuff and mid century history is very interesting to me.

Ha! I picture you in front of a computer, coffee in hand, sullen expression, and a cartoon balloon saying "Why, why have I never seen this before!"

Of particular interest too, in a lot of mid-century magazines and articles and docs like these, are the illustrations, especially the black and white ones.

Especially if they have to do with adventuring, poptops, etc:

This one above (actually from a bit before mid-century in 1935) has the line:

"From the prairie schooner to the modern trailer coach is a vast step forward. More surprising is this prediction of Roger W. Babson, able statistician: 'Within twenty years half the population of the United States will be living in automobile trailers.' "

Yeah that's good stuff, do you watch "The History Guy" on YouTube? If not you should, about 15 minute shorts, worthwhile watching

Nope, though I'll look him up. I'm a nerd for trivia in general and history in particular, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Another rabbit hole in which to disappear . . .

Thanks for the tip.
