Hey Guys and Gals,
So some of you showed some interest in my side window screens.
to keep my dogs from jumping out since they are now just 6 inches or so from the base of the window since I built my sleeping / storage platform.
materials
2 sheets 24x30 black mesh 18ga screen
16 1/8 x 1 inch washers
16 #10x 3/4 self tapping screws
16 ft of cowles truck/suv edge trim
I used a piece of chip board to make the template of the side windows I wanted to install the mesh on
once I had a template that fit, I laid the template over the mesh and used some blue painters tape below the outer edge allowing me to trace with a sharpie the shape onto the mesh.
I then used a cordless 4 inch grinder with a cutting wheel to cut out the shape and test fit / adjusted the size to allow the edge trim to sit into the recess in the window opening,
**Note I allowed 1/2 inch or one row of the mesh from the bottom to be able to bend it to sit on the door panel**
** at some point I will be replacing the self tapping screws with nutserts and making a 3/4 wide sheet metal trim that will cover all around the interior of the mesh allowing me to remove the washers as the retainer **
see photos below
I hope this helps give some of you ideas on other projects
