I am in the Idaho falls area and I am super excited to go on an adventure. I just got a 2021 Rubicon hard Rock. Already on 35s also has a winch and lights.
Me and the kids are thinking we want to go to the Copper Basin once the weather gets warmer. From everything I have seen it is pretty mild. Which is good because I have a family of 6 and the jeep only seats 5. So I may need to have a second vehicle either an f250 or Yukon xl both have 4wd and KO2s as a bonus I can have room for all the extra stuff a beginner thinks he needs but could probably live without.
Any tips from the community as we get ready would be appreciated.

Welcome, and we are going to need pics of the Jeep, just sayin'!
Nah. We don't need pics. Once you've seen a jeep, you've seen them all. :tongueclosed:

Seriously though, welcome! I'm over in Caldwell, myself, and there are several others in the Boise area.

I'll likely head out your way at least once this year, as I've not done much on that side of the state yet.

Stay warm, dry and keep full bellies and your family will LOVE the outdoors! Oh and don't feed the bears!
I disagree. They really seem to like it when you feed them campers who destroy trails, and leave their garbage everywhere....

@6A Adventures My advice for beginners:

1. Walk it before you drive it. Before attempting a stretch that could contain rocks, loose terrain of any kind, sand, or mud, or that goes around a sharp corner or over a hill, or whenever water is involved - if it gives when you walk on it, it will give when you drive on it.

2. Don't wheel at night unless you are already familiar with the area and know the way out without a compass.

3. Stop and get out often! There are lots of awesome land forms, plants, and animals that are close to the trails, but not in sight from the car.

4. Buddy up. Don't break conversation until you get back into the vehicle. You probably already know this, but when you have a group, one person stops to look at a bug or take a picture of a flower, and the rest of the group leaves without 'em.

5. Always take spare fuel, a shovel, and a knife, even to the grocery store. Even if you don't ever need them, there's always the chance that you'll come across somebody who does.
