Good evening, all! And thank you all for being out there for us!

At Any rate, I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee WK. I'd like to mount a CB Antenna to it. I don't have any bull bars or steel bumpers to mount to, so this isn't an option. I ordered one of these mounts (http://jbaoffroad.com/jeep/grand-cherokee-2005-2010/4xguard-armor/mounts-lights-antenna/antenna-mount-wk.html) that slips into the gap between the rear gate and the rear tail light, but the surface available for mounting isn't flat, rather it is curved. The basic solution they provided was to bend the bracket into place. It's pretty heavy steel and I don't have much in the way of a working space to do too much work like that.

I am wondering if I should be considering perhaps a different mount such as this one here: https://www.rightchannelradios.com/collections/cb-antenna-mounts/products/cb-antenna-molded-side-mount. Issue is, I have seen something about this kind of mount and -- this is where my radio knowledge starts falling off the map here! -- it not being a zero ground plane mount? Is this kind of mount ok? Is it not OK? For mounting, since I would need to have access to the nuts on the back side of it, I was considering mounting to the rear gate, maybe the right/rear quarter panel.

Something else I was wondering, and since this is the Communications forum, I read that a CB antenna requires "visibility" to a metallic surface, such as the roof of the car. First, is this true? Second, if it is true, will my 3/4" plywood roof rack hinder the antenna capability?

Another item is, I have a Cobra 75 WX ST and will couple it to a 5' tall Firestik II. Any thoughts on this configuration?

And any thoughts anyone has for me on installing a CB in to my vehicle I am all ears!

Thanks!
