So I had an idea of taking a Wrangler tire carrier band mounting it to the back with upgraded heavy duty shocks for the hatch. But the manufacturer said that without his mount it may cause damage because his mount has been specifically counter ballanced to stop damage from occurring. I need some input on this, what do you guys think, or do you have any other options, I don't really have the money for a rear bumper. Or should I just mount it to my roof rack like before.

Man that's a tough one. Have you thought about a hitch mout spare tire holder? Those look cool and cost effective to build or buy.

Take a look at the tire carrier that GenRight makes. I think you could adapt it to almost any bumper. You of course would have to drop you tire carrier each time to open the back hatch, but it is a sucure way to hold your tire, and not have the stress on the back hatch. Benz.
