I'm in the East Bay and would be down for some shorter (long weekend) type trips. I'm new to overlanding, so would prefer a group trip as I build up skills. I'm heading to the Off the Grid West rally in September, so that should help.

I'm over is Sunnyvale. I was thinking of putting together a meet up some Saturday. There is a big empty lot by me with a Starbucks on the corner. Would anyone be interested in coming out, having coffee, checking out things folks have done to their rigs, and discussing future road trips?
I'm in SF. Would love to be able to make some of these as my schedule allows!

Good day everyone. I spoke with the ranger out in Hollister and the campgrounds are first come first serve. The two campsites are Sycamore camp and the obstacle camp. The sycamore camp has flushing toilets and showers. The obstacle camp does not have showers, but they do you have flushing toilets. These two campsites are in the upper ranch where the 4 x 4 vehicles Are. You have to enter in the lower ranch, and the Ranger will give you the combination to the lock for the campsites if you get one. Camping is wide open with fire rings available. I'm going to be heading out in the morning with some friends and hopefully will be able to get a couple of Sites for the nite.

Got home a couple of hours ago and just finished de-dusting my rig! Had an absolute blast. Where else but OB can you meet up with a large group of strangers and walk away as friends with all! What a great group.

In true OB fashion, it didn't matter what you drove! We had several different makes, models and setups. Likewise we had the full gamut of skill levels, from very experienced to those that had never been off road. All did great!

There were six of us in all that made it an overnighter. Had a great time wheeling at dusk. As warned, the bees were out in force. But we survived. Great campground and awesome campsite! Special thanks to BCBrian for leading us around his home away from home. He was a great tour guide and kept us on group appropriate trails.

Thanks to all that made it out. I'll post my pics as soon as my iPad rrcharges

Good to see ya there, mike. Was looking for ya Sunday to wheel around with, but nick and a couple of the fellas that stayed said y'all had headed out already. Had fun wheeling the guys that stayed around to hit a few more trails. Def looking forward to the next trip. Hopefully it'll be cooler and not so!

Great seeing you there! We'll have to wheel together in the future.
