Hello fellow OB’s,

I am headed to Italy in the next few months for work. I will be there for about 2 years. I’ll be living around Lake Garda in northern Italy. I’m taking my 4Runner with me and am planning to do as much overland travel that I can as long as work isn’t too crazy. I am looking for good information of places to go, and general rules about over landing in Europe. Thanks in advance!

Haven't done much, relatively new there, but from what I've been told/reading up on it's pretty difficult. There is some off roading but only at parks and such, I know many people prefer to go south into france.

They are plenty of routes and tracks in the Italian and French Alps, and wild camping is tolerated in most areas

Have you made any moves to France yet? I know COVID is messing things up for everyone. I just got to IT in July. And finally my vehicle got here last week.

How is it in Germany? Does it seem hard to get off the asphalt and find a trail or dirt road?
It's basically forbidden, the rules vary from state to state but most end up with not allowing you to drive of pavement and there are basically no maps showing the actual status of a dirt or forest road.
