Is an older Range Rover HSE a good platform for overland build?

An aging family member has offered me their 2005 Range Rover HSE provided I keep it and not just sell it. I would use it for off-road camping expeditions, maybe a small lift but probably not go crazy with drivetrain and suspension modifications. I know Range Rovers have a good reputation but never paid much attention to something ordinarily so far out of my price range.

Is this a desirable vehicle for making a dedicated overland build? Anything particularly good (or bad) about their off-road capabilities? Would love to see some pics if anybody has a comparable vehicle!

The aftermarket for them is expensive in some areas if you want bolt on, service can be VERY expensive if you can’t diy, or don’t have a trustworthy, equipped, and knowledgeable independent tech. When kept in good repair they are very capable off roaders in most trims. I personally love the air suspension in them but to put that in context I’m a former BMW tech very versed in their maintenance, diagnosis, and repair. It is a vehicle that you want to stay ahead of the maintenance rather than behind.
