We start in the Bodie Hills, then traverse south into the relicted lands of eastern Mono Lake within the Mono Basin National Scenic Area and into Mono Mills then onto Crooked Meadows and the volcanic and granitic wildlands of Wild horse Canyon, Benton Crags, Chidago Flat, and Fish Slough. We will end the trip going through Bishop, up into the Inyo Mountains at Papoose Flat for primordial views of the Sierra Nevada and then down Mazourka Canyon to Independence. Possible trip to Manzanar NHS.

Hi Edward, Seems like a pretty cool route. Have you previously run this whole route? I'm seriously considering joining your trip.

Edward, do we need enough fuel to complete the 250 mile trip or will there be a location en-rought to top off?

Negative here Keith.
Same results as the last time I forwarded the screen shot to everyone. The GPX is not downloading correclty for some reason and I am unable to view the information in any usable type format.

If anyone else here has had success in veiwing the data, please advise.

Hello Kent.
My attempts were done on the web.
Let me clarify, from the web you found the GPX on the RP then tried to download it to your computer. Making sure you were using the forum on the web and not using the app on the web.

I downloaded the GPX without any issue it just goes to my download file then I can add it to any program I want.

Try this file;

Thanks Kent. I was able to upload the GPX file on the (iPad) in lieu of the PC. Got it now.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello All,

Unfortunately, bad timing has struck me too and dished me a time-out as well. Our AC compressor at the house is going out. Sheet metal shop making a new transitional curb Monday or Tueasday and the new Trane roof top unit scheduled for crane Wed or Thursday of next week, depending on fabrication time. Units are not cheap anymore. Rotten timing. I've weighed all the option to try to attend but cant fit it in (don't want to leave the wife alone to oversee the install). Hopefully someone following the thread can take my slot to enjoy this awesome trip. I even purchased a GMRS rado just for this occasion as all I had was HAM.

Safe travels everyone and hope meet a few of you at the next Rally Point.

HAPPY TRAILS!

OB Friends-

Well the timing did not work for all that signed up, but life got in the middle, it happens. There will be more trips! This was an awesome trip and full of Eastern Sierra backcountry scenery of the all the great places that make the area an Overlander's paradise. Glen from Porterville and I were the only ones in attendance. No vehicle problems, other than the east side of Mono Lake and deep ruts, nearly rolled my vehicle trying to avoid high centering...thanks Glen for calling on the radio to stop. Moments like this reminds us how great it is to have your radios working, otherwise we would have need to call call for help.

Definitely need to investigate re-gearing my rig, with all the weight Silver Cyn in the White Mtns and the Harkless Flat trail coming up the west flank of Andrews Mt, northern Inyos kicked my rigs butt. The photos speak for themselves attached. Will run this trip again next year but a week or two earlier.

Beautiful area to traverse along with some outstanding views! Glad to hear it was a safe trip for all, good looking out for each other.
I too am looking forward to any future trips back to this area.

For those of us that were unable to make it, the pics you shared are much appreciated. Thank you.

Wish I could have joined you for another trip, but this was a little too far west for me this go around. Hope to make another one of your trips (assuming you keep it up) one of these days.
