Hello all…
I have been attempting to figure out where in Utah this particular Camping spot is..? I’ve sent the YouTube poster messages asking for information on the spot he stayed at but he apparently doesn’t want to answer my request. It dawned on me this afternoon that I’m a member of this here ‘Fine Establishment and that maybe I would have a chance of getting educated by a fellow Overlander’…?
Here’s the video link of the location I’m attempting to find…

Any help in direction would & will be deeply appreciated….

Hey Jim
Yeah, that looks like a cool spot, but asking for locations is almost kin to asking Colonel Sanders his secret recipe...
Some folk like to post pics and vids hoping you'll ask where it is so they can flex by not telling you. Some are genuinely concerned that if they tell anyone the location, people will immediately flock to the area and trash it or start cooking meth there or whatever. Others feel that they had to put in time and money to find the spot and therefore you should, too. Some will share with only friends and family and some are willing to share with anyone who asks.

Dont want you to feel bad if you dont get an answer...folks are just funny about stuff

I posted a reply with my belief, became unsure and deleted the post.

Now I think I am correct. I think it's Castle Valley, UT which is just east of Moab up the Colorado River. If you ping me I will send you the coordinates of what I believe to be the spot or spots......I have 3 possibilities but am pretty sure of the ONE. Some creative editing of the video threw me off, the sequencing of the scenes in the video threw me off a bit.

Not valley of the gods, nor is it monument valley. It may well be somewhere along or a track diverting from the Kokepelli trail overlooking Castle Valley. One way to be sure? Get out and explore. I’m one of those guys that stay mum about the cool places we have been, as discovering places on our own is and can be, deeply gratifying.

I actually hear & understand your point Moak, but where as I’m in the vicinity of 2,500 miles away from that general area it does,.. shall we say make it a bit combersum to, as you say,… “get out there, and explore”

There are some peaks with snow early in the video that would appear, by snowpack, to be in excess of 8,000 feet or so. That would be the easiest way to narrow it down if you were interested.

agreed, timelines can be combersome. Any info on great secluded wild camping spots in Vermont? New Englanders seem to be very tight lipped and I totally get why. We settle for Moosalamoo campsite each summer. Nice place, and explore from there. So far, after 3 summers, still can’t find anything to write home about though. Southern Utah? Different great wild campsites around every bend in the trail. We stumble upon the best. 2BA1F6B9-A9A4-4D8E-8A27-515F47543E73.jpeg

Yep.

All you have to do is just go wandering: You will find an awesome world to savor.

Get all hung up on having to have just such and such an experience, well, good luck.

But if you go into it just looking for a beautiful world you will not be disappointed.

Just finished my second trip to Utah - the last one being all overlanding. Thing is, if you just go and drive around, you’re very liable to stumble across a phenomenal spot.

I had a planned route. After day two, and only being on part 2 of my 7-part plan, I realized I was gonna run short on time. So, I diverted off my planned route and ended up camping in two phenomenal spots. Just go and enjoy -don’t be so enamored with where you’ll end up.
