Benefactor
Hello everyone!
I've been radio silent over the past couple months while my girlfriend (now wife) and I have been planning and putting together our wedding (it was mostly DIY). It started out small, with just close family and friends and kept getting bigger and bigger.
The day finally came last Sunday and I can now resume my regularly scheduled forum browsing:) My dad is in town until next Monday, and we're going to visit the Castle Air Museum while he's out here. He used to take me to the Air & Space Museum and Wright-Pratt when I was a kid so now t's time for me to return the favor.
I'm sure there are some aviation nuts who are also OB members so I figured you might enjoy the story behind my wedding ring. It came from the ejector nozzle (aka the turkey feathers) of an SR-71 Blackbird! But not just an Blackbird, it came from 61-7960, which is parked at Castle Air Museum, only a couple of hours from my house.
This particular SR has had some unique history among the Blackbirds. It's known as "The Libyan Raider" which took part of the bomb assessment flyovers during the El Dorado Canyon raid over Libya in 1986. It flew the most operational missions than any other SR (342), and was part of the only dual take off of a Blackbird (with 61-7967) out of Kadena in 1978.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone again and planning more trip in the coming months.
Oh, and for those of you who know my giant St. Bernard "Quake", today is his 4th birthday!
See you on the trail:)
