ideas for solving this trailer hitch problem?

With the trailer directly behind my truck the swing away tire carrier runs into the lever to which the emergency brake cable attaches. I'd like to be able to swing the tire carrier out all the way regardless of how the trailer is angled.
Would the best way to solve this be to get a different Pintle hitch? Or would it be safe to add a spacer between my bumper and existing hitch (to put the entire trailer about 1" further behind the truck)?
Any other ideas?

I couldn't tell you a definite solution, but I used to run an extension. Had the trailer try to walk away from me on the freeway. Granted, it was empty, but I wouldn't run an extension anymore.

Sorry, miss read your post. I think some sort of spacer would suffice. A steel block.

Hard to tell from here, but maybe you could weld a bracket, above where the swing out mounts, to raise it up 3 inches ?

I would shorten the swing away tire carrier ( bottom bar that hits) but just enough so that it clears the hitch nicely. I'd then move the pin bracket on top of the bumper to match the shortened bottom bar.

Park trailer at an angle, problem solved.
