Check out ARB's new(ish) Deluxe Awning Room. I couldn't find it on arbusa.com but a quick Google search turned up a few stateside retailers. It's a pretty neat redesign that allows for doors all three non-vehicle-facing sides.
The old style awning could work backwards, but I feel like it would be pretty awkward.

The regular room has the same awning track system for the vehicle side attachment as it does for the extended side. The only difference is the extended side zips on and off for easy setup. You'll just need to slot the outside section into the track first, then zip the vehicle side on. It'll work fine; the room fabric will just be in your way while you're trying to get the zipper zipped up and you'll loose the inner door for vehicle access since the bug net windows don't open.
