Off-Road Ranger I
Howdy folks, new member from Alberta, Canada.
I've been poking through the various blog posts and thought it was time to formally join. I've seen some great information on here.
I used to do lots of (pre-marriage/pre-kid) camping, and we did the fancy 25' trailer thing several years ago but I hated the campground life where your neighbour's sewer hose is next to your picnic table, and you're basically living in a big RV parking lot. Sold the trailer but I've been getting that "itch" to get back to the outdoors.
I have an old YJ with a whack of mods that has satisfied the "get out of town and play for a few hours" urge, but it's not big enough to take the family, two dogs and camping gear. Soooo, just picked up an '08 Liberty and hope to be heading out for some trips later this year.
Location-wise, Alberta can be an interesting place to live and travel. We have some breathtakingly beautiful scenery, whether it's golden prairies, rolling foothills or the Rockies. It can also drop down to -40C (-40F) in the winter and hit +40C (105F) in the summer. The weather can also change radically within a day; it's not uncommon to see temperature variations of of 30 degrees from day-to-day (or within the same day).
Anyway, glad to finally be a member and look forward to some good conversations!
