We all love getting out there, for years I slaved and dreamed of my vacations. I had 3 weeks per year and used 1/3 to 1/2 getting out, some years more. We did do some day trips, there were weekend trips often mixed in.
I am more of a go and post up guy. I kayak, surf, mountain, bike, fish, and backpack. I travel to play often to remote places. I also have a deep love for Baja, with is a playground for me. I don’t wheel hard, I try to stay away from bolder fields that are much bigger than basket balls. There is plenty is of sand, beach, cobble and crappy road for 100’s of miles. I am retired and solo. My ideal trips are mostly 14 to 21 days long, as Baja get smaller , I am less self supported for the duration. My ideal trip is 2 to 3 weeks.
Edit; I still have family that often needs my attention, they are my only reason to stay. I am looking at a 5 or 6 years around Central and South America.

2019:
I had four ideal trips
Three 7 to 10 day trips
Three 3 to 6 day trips
Zero day trips
It was the most I have done in a year.

2020:
Two ideal tips
One 8 day trip
Three trips 3 to 6 day trips
One day trip
So the question do you get out and play?

I don't get out as much as I'd like that's for sure and no thanks to COVID. Hopefully, 2021 and the vaccine, etc. will change all that. But in 'normal' times, when and where I'd like to go is dependent on the trail. Being full sized I'd have to pick and choose where I go. I'm not a solo traveler, so I'm also dependent on the local group for guidance and organization of trips, etc.

Hmm - I assume the question is "how many times a year "overlanding"?

So, including all trips which included an "overland" component in the last decade:

2010/2011 - 11 month trip (South America), 3 day trip and 1 month trip (Colombia)
2012 - 3 day, 5 day, and 2 day trips (all Colombia), 9 day trip (Texas), 3 day trip (Mexico), 17 day and 16 day trips (Europe)
2013 - 5 day and 3 day trips (Colombia), 24 day trip (Canada), 17 day trip (Texas-Arkansas-Louisiana), 48 day trip (Europe/Asia)
2014 - 16 day and 32 day trips (Asia/Europe), 6 day trip (Colombia), 25 day trip (Europe)
2015 - 8 day and 3 day trips (Colombia), 10 day trip (Cuba), 11 day trip (Brazil), 17 day trip (Republic of China), 5 day trip (Panamá), 62 day trip (Costa Rica, Texas, Algeria, Canada, Malaysia, Myanmar, Europe)
2016 - 16 day trip (Argentina), 8 day, 5 day, 3 day trips (Colombia), 22 day trip (Europe), 18 day trip (Argentina)
2017 - 10 month trip (Africa)
2018 - 6 day, 3 day, 4 day, 5 day trips (Colombia), 18 day trip (first part of Route 66), 22 day trip (Europe)
2019 - 10 month trip (Australia and SE Asia)
2020 - 7 day, 2 day, 2 day, 29 day, 1 day, 2 day, 2 day trips (Colombia)

Add to that a lot of short trips (Brazil, Colombia, USA, Mexico, Canada, Vietnam, Argentina, Europe...) which have no "overland" component.

So we've enjoyed three "big trips" in the last decade (11 months, 10 months, and 10 months), 17 trips longer than 2 weeks, and 27 trips less than 2 weeks.
