I just want to pass on a tested way to rid one of horse flies. I learned this in the 70's and 80's when going camping in Northern Nevada's Black Rock Desert. There the horse flies would routinely stealth land and bite on exposed human flesh when camped at Fly Geyser or Soldier Meadows, well any of the many springs. Since the critters are HUGE compared to house flies one needs a larger swatter. I recommend an old tennis racket picked up at a yard sale. Not only does it take care of the fly, it improves your backhand at the same time. Very satisfying when you connect!
