I'll be there!

What are most people using for communications in this group? I know most people aren't HAM licensed and I won't be by that time either. FRS/GMRS? CB?

That would be best answered by someone who has any of these. Since I usually go alone (includes family members), I just rely on walkie-talkies.

usually yelling and/or FRS/GMRS handhelds - i just got my GMRS license so I can legally use those channels with hi-power on my handheld. Now having someone to to talk to and actually wants to listen to me is another issue. ;)

I just picked up my gmrs license and a mxt275. I hope to have time to install it beforehand. I also have a couple frs handhelds that people could borrow that will work with it if needed.

I've got CB and handie talkie, but am truly out of touch with ham radio, haven't been active for over 15 years now.

There also seems to be some confusion between one-day vs overnite, well on my part anyway. I'm open to either one, but keep in mind that the route can be run in one day and need not go to Fredericksburg.

Maybe we should get together beforehand and discuss the route and timing.

Others may if they so desire, but I'm not planning to stay overnight.

My phone won't allow me to attach the kml. I'll do that as soon as I get home.

I have RSVP'd for this event, however, I've been under the weather all week (not the flu).
If I feel up to it, I'll be there on Saturday morning. Looking forward to meeting some new folks, and getting a little dirt on my Land Cruiser.
