Hey all, I'm relatively new to the overlanding scene. I previously had a Land Rover LR3 that I used for camping, getting up to trailheads, and putzing around on BLM but that's the extent of my off-road experience; nothing too serious or crazy. I needed something more economical and family-friendly, so a few months ago, I got a 2018 Mazda CX-9 AWD and quickly learned..... it's no Land Rover. :( and I miss my curb hopping capability and off-road prowess.
Now, I've gone down a rabbit-hole of searching for ways to make the CX-9 a more capable "soft-roader" which may be a foolish venture. Regardless, I'm really enjoying myself and am very motivated to learn from others how to become a better driver considering my hardware limitations. I know there are a lot of trails around but I've never driven on them so it's my hope to meet up and not be judged and just have a good time.
I've been able to change the wheels to 17's with AT tires and give it a 1.5" lift (picture is pre lift)
