Enthusiast III
Over memorial day we are going to spend 5 days and head to Southern Utah. I have not been down there since I was 8-9. Girlfriend has never been. We arent looking for peoples personal spots we just dont know where to look for land. Is pretty much all BLM/State/Forest land fair game? Excluding Parks.
We dont have our whole timeline planned out and it will likely change from now and then. We have maps and are just trying to locate good areas to camp near our main destinations.
Thursday before memorial day we will take off after work and head to Moab. Probably get into Moab around midnight so we arent sure if we will try to find a spot to camp or just set up in my cousins yard for the night.
Friday well look around Moab and plan on camping somewhere in the area. Was looking at the Forest land west of Moab but wasnt sure what it is like.
Saturday we were planning on pushing further south and making our way to the Grand Canyon. We dont really know how much time to budget around the canyon so is there any decent areas around the North Rim?
Sunday we want to push up near Lake Powell. Girlfriend wants to see the deep narrow sandstone canyons around the lake. Antelope Canyon perhaps? We may try and camp somewhere near there.
Monday We would like to push to the north of Lake Powell or head back towards Mesa Verde/Monument Valley. Im assuming the reservation areas are pretty locked up when it comes to camping?
Tuesday, Make the 7-10 hour trip home depending on where we end up.
Any and all reccomendations on where to look or where to try and spend the nights is greatly appreciated. We dont mind being near others just prefer not to be in a KOA next to a motor home lol.
