Heavy Duty awning options... What is your choice and why?
As the final assembly is beginning on the TJ-8 FrankenJeep, its time to source an awning. As with everything else on this truck, I'm keen on it being reliable and heavy duty, thereby doing it exactly one time.
Requirements are simple SOLO deployment, general hardiness/reliability, maintainability. Will be mounting to DOM exo-cage.

Drawn over mandrel 3/16 1.75" tubing, welded into a rollover protection and "stuff mounting" cage.

With your fab capabilities, I think you can design/build better than anything on the market.
I'll be building 2 for my trailer. Mostly cuz I cannot justify spending more on the awnings than on refrigeration.

I'd love to be able to take credit for the beautiful welds but I'm a booger welder. I did the cad design and initial engineering but the welding/bending are courtesy of POR in Alexandria, Ky. Im more of an electrical/comms/electronics guy.


I considered custom building an awning but there are already some great designs out there.
