Thought I would post our overland trailer build up on here. It's a CDN M101 that we picked up the spring of 2015 and have been working on since. It's getting close to be done, just some fine tuning now.

This is some pics of the trailer as it sat when we bought it.

Here is the day we picked it up and hauling it home. Was happy to get my hands on one.

Nice. I'd love to build one of these, but I have no place to work on it, and can't find any in decent condition anywhere near me.

I had a local shop build a lid for me since it was beyond the scope of my abilities. They also fabbed up some new fenders so that the tires would be completely covered.

I attached some rails on the bottom side of the tent cross members so I could slide my table top up in there.

New Procomp wheels and 33" Duratrac tires to go on the trailer.

Welded up some baskets to hold my Scepter has and water cans on the tongue as well as a 10lb propane tank.

Looks great! I love seeing an actual build thread not just finished pictures.
What model m101 is it? Most of the m101's around here a huge.

Thanks!

It's a M101 CDN 2 so the smaller version built for the Canadian Military. Really sought after for these builds since they are so tough. Made to parachute out of a Hercules plane actually....

FYI...

The M101 CDN is the Canadian military version of the US M416 1/4 ton trailer pulled behind GPs (Jeeps). The US M101 is a 3/4 ton trailer pulled behind 3/4 ton or larger military trucks. The M101A3 is its 1 ton bigger brother used behind HMMWVs (Hum-Vees).

I am looking for a 416/101 CDN for extra gear.

Maybe you can enlighten me..

I realize that these things are tough and really cool, being old military and all.

But people go through so much trouble to find them, and spend so much to get them.

Why not just buy an axle and put a box on it? Whats so special about these?

Im just curious thats all. Thanks!

Used to be you could pick them up, ready to roll for $500-$1000. Now they are becoming harder to find and the price is going up. I still hope to find one at a local auction or tangled up in the weeds behind some farmer's barn... I am looking at other options...
