Hey everyone. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. I am new to overlanding and the closest thing I have done to it is driving the dirt roads to the camp grounds at Mojave National Preserve (so really no experience).

My vehicle is a 2013 Toyota Tundra 4x4 with no mods overland specific mods (wheels and exhaust).

I have historically been a glamper with a 24' travel trailer. Moving to the East Bay of San Francisco has made me dislike my camper. It seems to go anywhere with a camper you have to book 6+ months in advance and be just a few feet from your neighbors. I moved here from North Dakota where you can pretty much go anywhere at any time (well during the 4 months out of the year without snow).

Today I ordered a topper/shell for my Tundra along with a Thule Rack and a Tepui Autana 4 roof top tent. It should be installed and ready for my trip at the end of July. We are headed to Lassen Volcanic National Park, Mt. Shasta, Lava Beds National Monument, Crater Lake National Park and Redwoods National Park. No overlanding planned on this trip.

I think with my pretty much stock Tundra I can do some light overlanding. From there, I will determine "what's next". I want to do some better suspension, 33"-35" general grabber X3's no matter what. Depending on my appetite for longer overland trips I want to look into replacing the factory bumpers with something more rugged as well as skid plate(s). Front bumper with a winch and a rear bumper with some sort of rack to put a full size wheel/spare, several jerry cans, shovel/jack/tools.

Welcome to OB!

I just got back from a trip to the Lassen/Shasta area to see some waterfalls. I'm sure you've already done a lot of trip planning, but here are some suggestions if you are looking for ideas in the area. Almost all of these are on the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway.
- Subway Tube (lava tube you can hike in) north of Lassen.
- McArthur-Burney Falls (must see)
- McCloud falls. Nice falls, good camping at nearby Fowler campground.
- Hedge Creek Falls in Dunsmuir (good 30 min stop to stretch the legs off of highway 5)

Thank you very much! We are not doing much trip planning. We like to stop and talk to locals and just figure it out as we go. I will definitely send these suggestions on to the wife and get some/all of them added to the plan.
