Please educate me on why I should get a gps navigation system. For the most part I use the gps on my phone and switch to maps when I run out of service. What is the difference between gps devices and cellular phones ? Will common gps systems have service in rural mountainous areas? Do they relay on cell towers ? Or do they have true satellite capability? I have always used regular maps and compass if I was in a jam . But gps devices sound really nice .
