Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a midland mxt115 gmrs and got my license.
I've read the manual for the unit and it left me more confused than before. Is there a gmrs for dummies ? I dont understand all the tones and codes.

Any help would greatly be appreciated

Take a look at recent threads here in the comms section; there are some GMRS answers recently that may work for you.
@M Rose has set up a weekly “shelter in place“ conference call and we have been discussing all kinds of great stuff, last week was free nav software solutions for trip planning. Come check it out!

All the tone and code information will make sense when you look up the repeater you are trying to connect to. YouTube is your friend. Search Midland MXT115 setup. Tones are used to open the repeater for access. Codes are to keep unauthorized access tto the repeater. Most are standard per frequency used.
