Reaching out to you all for some info. on gluten free food rations for staying good on the trail without refrigeration. I know there are companies that make emergency rations where you just add hot water and youre good to go. Plus a shelf life of a couple years. However they all seem to have gluten haha. Anybody out there have any luck with easy to prepare gluten free trail food/rations?

Seems like most of the "meal in a bag" type stuff is just freeze-dried, so perhaps you could experiment with making your own? REI seems to have a pretty decent article on preparing your own dehydrated foods, which I found here: How to Dehydrate Food: Fruits, Vegetables, Meat & More | REI Co-op Journal

Also seems to me like buying a halfway decent food dehyrator and doing it yourself at home would be notably cheaper in the long run, compared to tracking down specifically GF dried foods.

Yes! I have a small dehydrator somewhere in the garage and I have done that time to time for backpacking trips! Thanks for the help!

Cheers! Plus it seems like a good idea for food longevity, too. Could easily spend some time prepping a bunch of stuff to toss in the pantry so you can just grab & go on future trips :)

I don’t need to but usually try to stay gluten free. Just heard about this brand that sounds good but I haven’t had a chance to try them yet -

I've tried the dehydrator route, but always find it's too much work to make a habit. My compromise has been to cook stew/chili/etc... freeze servings and vacuum-seal them. I just grab a few from the freezer for each trip.

I keep strict paleo. Here are my go-to choices for ready-made meals.
There are likely many other options out there that are GF without being paleo. I haven't looked into those, but hopefully this is a start.
I need to bookmark these, lol. Thanks! My wife is super on the gluten free train but our family is firmly on the Organic/Clean food train as well so this works great together!
