Resolved Gifting a membership

This is not a rant, just a suggestion. I recently purchased three gift memberships for three of my overlanding buddies. Each of them were grateful and eager to sign up. I happened to be present while one of them was signing up and imputing his discount gift code and I was surprised when he had to pay an additional $5.00 for shipping. Now, this wasn’t an issue for him but when I give someone a gift, my intention is to cover all the cost. If I had known that shipping still needed to be covered, I would have happily paid the additional $5.00 or an estimated shipping charge. I think it would be nice if there was an option for people who are purchasing a gift membership to be able to cover this charge up front, thereby relieving the gift recipient from having to pay money after receiving his gift. Just a thought...

Incidentally, they are all enjoying the membership and are happy to be on board!

Merry Christmas! We agree! This is a new system for us and we were not aware of the additional cost. We will follow up when back in the office and do a couple of things. Let them know of the error and issue a refund, and correct the system going forward so future gift recipients do not incur this cost. Thank you for letting us know!

Same thing here. My wife gifted me the membership, but the $5 fee was a surprise. Hoping to see that change. Not a huge issue, just not the way a gift like that should work. I'm looking forward to being part of this community.
