So we (2 couples from Florida) are going on a 5 state road trip in May. We are planning to hit GA, TN, possibly as far North as VA on the way up, then NC (Ashville area) and FL (Big Talbot Island) on the way back home. We both have DIY Overland/Expedition trailers, but the rub is, the other couple is using a Dodge Ram 3500 Dually 2WD. I'm assuming, from what I have seen/read, that a 2WD dually would not work out so well on the GA Traverse. Correct me if I'm wrong please, or if you know of a section that would be passable for a 2WD dually, we'd love that.
So my actual question is...... is there a campsite (able to house truck and trailer) that anyone could recommend, that would be close enough for me to go on a section of the trails for a bit, but not completely be out of the area of said campsite? I am still looking over the interactive map on GA Overland's website as well. Just thinking a few of you may have some first-hand experience in the area and have a suggestion as to a nice place. Hiking trails and streams are always a plus!!!!
Thanks in advance!!!
