The fullsize jeep is an extremely capable platform. It is narrower than other fullsize rigs, and it has good running gear. Aftermarket support is limited, but a stock one will do amazing things. I had a 77 wagoneer with a 401ci motor and a low range quadratrac. If yours still is an AMC Jeep and not a later Chrysler Jeep, make sure you carry a spare ignition module. They are a Ford style and will tend to fail as far from civilization as possible. It is a great rig otherwise and I would love to build another one.
