KJ6DHG	RENAY	CA		Busy. Studying for General. Noticed all repeater audio is scratchy. Learned had solar incident last week, interesting. Q: Putting in HF rig in jeep. People do that? Ed - running FT-891 and hamstick type antennas. Randall - thinking along same lines as 891.Making up own wire antenna with various taps, etc.

Hi Randall,
The middle device is called 'Griduino'. It's an arduino based GPS, altitude widget. Griduino – GPS for vehicle dashboard in the Maidenhead Locator System
All 3 devices are mounted to a piece of aluminum (3" x 6" I think), which in turn is mounted to a flexible seat mount bracket from Amazon. LINK

Hi Everyone,
Sorry I missed the net Friday. Everything go ok?

Made some great contacts on 6 meters for the VHF contest. We were setup on a ridge at 5000', which was almost a sheer drop to valley below to the east. Perfect for some directional VHF activity.

Noticed contacts were better made earlier in day. Tried software for Icom (RT Systems). Programed frequencies. (can't leave cable plugged in or cant txmt). May visit Field Day. Interested in antennas used for HF. One contact was a SOTA, would like something can hike with.

Your Friday Night HAM Radio Net will be hosted from waaay-down-under again this week.

The topic will be "What's in your tuckerbox?" which probably needs some translation.

The meaning of which is what are those food essentials you always take on your Overlanding trips? Mostly those staple foods that are not the main course and could potentially be stored in your rig on a semi-permanent basis.

KI5GPI – Donna. Pretty much packed all the time. Coffee, tea oats. Pancake mix, corn and beans. Freeze-dried meals, box of spices, oil.
N7PHY – Ed. Bag of trail mix in zip lock bag. Bottles of water. Stove and cookpot kit with a gallon of water. Make something hot in cold weather.
VK7VWK – Randall. Salt and pepper, tomato sauce, vegemite.
