Enthusiast III
Hello OB SouthEast!
I was asked to make a post and share about some of the great wheeling that is available in the Florida Panhandle. I Spent 2 years in Crestview Florida near Eglin AFB. During my time there I had many opportunities to explore and my hope is that in this post I can share some greats spots, plan a future OB meetup and Overlanding trip through much of these areas and encourage each of you to find the things I haven’t found just yet that aren’t on my list. Who knows there is tons of land with tons to see.
Here is the jist of it. This first post will cover Eglin as I spent most of my time on Eglin. It’s vitally important you remember that your need a Jackson Guard Pass to be on Eglin. They are $20 and totally worth it. Eglin is like no other place you can overland because you can of the nature of the area it is, a military base. Be sure to check the usage maps to ensure you don’t run into a training. May I just say from first had experience you don’t want to make that mistake. Luckily... I know people. The military equipment that can be found on base is 100% worth the journey. I will share many of the spots with you. However I will keep some of the coordinates to myself so they can be a surprise in the winter or spring when we do our meetup.
Hippie Hole Creek / Rope Swing: N30°34'52.8" | W86°34'29.6"

Happy wheeling! Keep this thread going! Post your pictures ask questions. Let’s make overlanding in Florida better than ever. Be safe, don’t be an idiot. Clean up after yourself and follow the rules and maybe just maybe our kids will still be able to do things like this one day.
