Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for some new tires and would like some insight on the Firestone Destination XT all terrains in 255/75r17, load range C. How are they on and off road and what are they like in the long term with wear and reliability.

I'm currently running BFG KO2s 265/70r17, load range E.

The KO2s have been the best all terrain tires I ever ran and while I want to get them in 255/75r17, they are fairly expensive and heavier than the Firestones. Plus the Firestones have a decent tread design comparable to the KO2s.

Any first hand experience with and information on the Firestones would be much appreciated.

Toyota Dealership here always has buy 3 + 1 for a dollar during April. That's for whatever they can order which is most tires I suppose. I just replaced my K02s load range E. Kind of a stiffer ride but the mileage was superior. But, you knew that. Hard to beat even though pricey was good deal.

Forgot to clarify...Toyota dealership offers the 3 + 1 deal for Toyota vehicles. I also tried to but some for another vehicle and not availiable.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of this. I'll have to check one out before the end of the month. Thank you.

I had a set of Destination A/T's(not XT). They were on the truck when I bought it but I'm not sure how long. I put over 100000km's on them. Great tire. No complaints. I replaced them last fall with KO2's. Been 6 months now and I don't see any signs of wear. The nibs are still visible. I would think the heavier load rating would give you better longevity but at the cost of ride quality. I also think the KO's would be quieter but don't know that for sure.

I ran the Destinations on my 1960 short wheelbase Land Rover. They went everywhere, mud, snow, sand, rocks, highway, Death Valley. Were still on it when I sold it some 50k miles later. Size wise IIRC they were 235/75-16. My current long wheelbase Land Rover has 285/75 -16 KM2's Also a good all round tire. Can't go wrong with either one IMHO.
