So we started this thread on May 3, just a little over a month ago and today looked back at the first post to see what we have accomplished since then. Time flies and the days just seem to tick away with work and life in general, but we really have knocked off a good deal of our initial to do list in preparation for our trans America trail trip:
  • Installed the C4 fab bumper with winch and front light
  • Got the KO2s on
  • Got the GPS and loaded our tracks
  • Lamin-x on the fog lights.
  • Installed the Shrockworks sliders

This Sunday we leave the T4R at the shop to have the Toytec BOSS lift installed. Be happy when this thing is finally up a little bit and leveled out.
This weekend we have to:
  • figure out a new mount to hold both the hi-lift and the traction boards together on the Gobi rack. Will post pictures once we get that together.
  • Really need to learn how to edit GoPro footage and pics so we can post on our trip
We leave 4 weeks from today and can't wait to disconnect. Have a good day all.

Awesome progress! I am super jealous of your set up and forthcoming trip, are you doing the entire thing out and back? How long are you planning for it?

Thanks. Unfortunately we are just getting a taste this trip. We are doing NC Tennessee and finishing through Mississippi. Then we take the highway home. Very difficult for me to get extended time off work. We plan on posting to Instagram and YouTube along the way. Thanks for checking in. Really looking forward to suspension next week. Also going to see if we can maybe meet one or two OB members along the way. Will be looking at the member map and see if it works out.

IMG_0138.JPG Am I over thinking it or is it this simple! My son says, Dad, just bungee the traction mats to the ladder. No need to get crazy and make brackets. Seems pretty sturdy. What y'all think? Open for all encouragement and criticism. Thanks in advance OB members.

Only issue I could think of is wind catching the top and creating extra strain/tension on the bungees. What are you planning on putting on the rack during your trip? Finding a spot up there might be the most secure option in my opinion. I think you would be able to use that the ladder setup on trails or low speeds, but since you are doing highways/interstates as well, it could cause problems.

Kind of what I was worried about. Maybe for the long initial journey down we do up top. Once on the trail and just banging around we do the ladder mount. Thanks for the input.

i would throw them in the truck for the highway and town portions...you leave them like that in town and someone will steal them. on the trail when you are not going that fast i think it would be fine.

IMG_0143.JPG So this weekend my son and I spent about 5 hours washing, polishing the scratches out and putting a nice coat of wax on the T4R express we dropped it off at the shop for the long overdue suspension upgrade. If my schedule works out, we should go pick it up on Thursday and will be sure to share some pics here with our new OB friends. Have a great week all!

Good news from the shop. Lift and UCAs are installed. Just doing the alignment and will pick up tomorrow. Really psyched to see the new look and how it rides. Will post the pics tomorrow. This weekend we can test it out hopefully.

Set the tire deflators to 20 PSI; one small step forward. We will be testing out the new suspension this weekend. Good excuse to drive through the woods.

Just found this posting...Great looking truck! Looking forward to following the TAT trip!
Thank you. 10 working days left before we head out. Then the fun begins. Feel free to follow the trip on Instagram too. Although we will try to post here frequently, it may not be as updated as IG. Also, I believe we will need to start a new thread in a different section for documenting the trip. I will keep updating this until we leave as we are still doing little prep things almost daily.
