New here and might be posting in the wrong forum. Just wondering if anyone here has a F150 hybrid build. Looking to get rid of my Ram 2500 Cummins … or am I going down the wrong path. Lol

I got mine 2 weeks ago.

My set up is
Velocity Blue XLT 302A package
3.73 gear
1590 payload
TowTech
7.2 KW generator
Moonroof and alt appearance package.

So far I love it. Nice ride. Just under 1000 miles on it with 23.2 mpg overall. A little getting used to the fake engine noise and the back up beeper-apparently those are federal mandates because the truck is so quit. I average 75 mile round trip to and from work mixed driving and I can get up to 28mpg going to work-heavy traffic stop and go but I get a more realistic 22-23mpg on the way home since there's much less traffic. I am still trying to figure out how to feather the pedal to keep the electric motor engaged but when you hit the pedal a bit it switches over to gas. But its a hybrid.
I used the generator to run my plug in air compressor and it only pulled 1000 watts-the engine never kicked on ran it straight off the lithium battery. I bled the air tank slightly so the compressor motor would kick on several times and the truck engine never kicked on. My next test is to run my house off it. See if it will run the big ticket items like the ac/furnace. I am sure it will but I want to see how much gas it'll use over night. Ford says it'll run for 32 hours on a full tank@6000 watts. If that's the case Then I will be a boon dock camper very soon.

The truck is so quit and smooth. Sunroof is quit when open and the 2 panel set up is so cool. I can open the back windows without the wind hammer effect.
I did want the FX4 package but I can add better shocks later. My last truck had the FX4 with hill descent and I never used it for off roading so I deemed that it wasn't necessary now. The tow tech package includes a 3.73 gear and rear locker so that'll be good for my needs. The different drive moods are pretty cool. I use mostly eco mode for my commute since eI live in metro detroit its stop and go traffic so no need for sport when driving to work.
But Normal and sport mode-you ask that motor and it goooooooooooooooeessss. ITs got a sack of nuts on it my last truck didn't have. Last set up was 2014 F150 CrewCab 4x4 fx4 3.5eco boost with lots of engine lag but had great power. New motor is the 3.5 and no lag. The pedal is very responsive and and syncs nicely with that 10speed trans-also smooth shifting.

My needs were 4x4 truck. NO CHROME!!. There were lots of trucks but not many without chrome. The lot had the hybrid. I drove it and liked it.
I do plan on upgrading the tires to a more all terrain but I'll keep factory size, bed cover like a revolver 4ks, fox shocks, and maybe some protection underneath (maybe)

Hey BlackDog. Thanks for your response. Haven’t bought a Ford in awhile and curious if you heard anything about the reliability of its electronics. The thing that bothers me the most is the fold down shifter … it doesn’t seem like it’s completely sealed so dirt and debris can make its way into it.

Besides extended fuel tank, my understanding is that most standard F150 mods is compatible with the Powerboost …?

The fold down shifter feels ok it does feel a little cheap and theres a little motor hum when folding up and down-that being said I don't fold it down so its not a big deal. The console is large and I do have to bend my wrist a bit to get it into drive. But I think that has more to do with the fact my female black lab is usually parked on the console before I get to shift and she blocks my arm-pain but she's cute. I do not have the fold down work station and I do not have the tailgate step/workstaion on it.

As far as the electronics...so far everything works. 360 camera, lane keeping, collision avoidance etc all works-though I have not tested the collision avoidance-thankfully. All of the sensors for that are mounted near the mirror on the windshield. Thats kind of cool but I shudder to think how expensive the windshield is to replace. The big screen is nice in the day time but I turn it off in low light-I dont like glare or lights reflecting at me so did all that down-the button to turn off the screen is on the dash so you dont have to go into menus to find it.

It has apple car play. I dont care for it. But thats a preference thing. I try to stay disconnected as much as possible so no phones while I'm driving. I will say though on the 2 calls I have been on the clarity is great on both sides. No road noise in the background, callers voice is clear. My last truck I felt like I had to turn my head a little to hear well.

I bought the box link set up from amazon instead of ford-Was shipped from a ford dealer in 2 days at half the price it would have been from my dealership. Weird-so much time of profit when they could have just matched the price but amazon.

1 thing I dont like is if the truck is running and I get out of it when the key is in my pocket it honks the horn 2x. not a big deal.

So far everything I have used and tested I have way more likes than dislikes. No regrets. Go get one before the incentives are gone.

Got an F150 PB at the end of Oct. Ordered a Project M topper for it (Delivery in June). Building it out for my family 4 (+ dog) as more of a camper than a true overloading rig, but do hope to take it on some remote backroads.

First DIY component will be a slide out kitchen. Have some time after Xmas to work on it, but I'm not a particularly skilled DIYer, so I expect I won't have it finished until February with all the setbacks I expect I'll run into.

Haven't seen more than 18mpg out of it (with no mods but lots of options like FX4, max tow, moon roof, etc.), but still on my first tank of gas and haven't taken it more than 10 miles from home yet.

That motor has lots of power easy to jump on it. I have a few more weeks on it and its settling at 22.9 on the dash. I am a soft roader and hate replacing perfectly good parts so it looks better or might perform slightly better. Id like to do a slide out kitchen too but for now it'll be a plastic storage bin from Lowe's. Im going to get a george foreman grill to cook on. haha. Ill be the only guy out there camping with a foreman electric grill. Show some pics of your slide out when you start working on it.

I've been pretty light on the gas pedal too. Usually in Eco mode with EV and brake training enabled most of the time. Try to stay in electric mode as much as I can. Only driven in sport mode for mile. I'm hoping I didn't just get a bum engine and that maybe I just need to take longer trips to see the benefits or the engine needs some more time. Only have ~350miles on it.

Still thinking of getting a power storage system (like a Bluetti) for a small fridge and a few amenities even though I've got the 7.2w Pro Power too. I probably only needed the 2.4w, but may as well go big for resale.
