If you keep exploring, you will find things that never would have come across your path. Whether about camping or vehicle-dependent exploration, keep on truckin'.

Cinders as a terrain? I never would have thought it! But it does exist and we found ourselves stuck.
Another wonder point: there is a whole other community with rigs that leave overlanders in the dust. Literally.

In my mind, that would be similar to driving on dry sand. Never been to a volcano personally.

Seems that everywhere you can go has its own unique hazards, and that's not even to mention wildlife and locals!

We have them here. Years ago, they cut narrow switchbacks up them. Short wheelbase vehicle only. We would drive up the tallest one and look out over the chain. You would park inside the Caldera. It was great. Now its a national park and we cant drive to most of the sights.

Here's a pic of ours. The ones we would drive up are a bit to the left of the picture and not shown. The second is a lava tube you climb down into. If you go at the right time of year, the light beam goes down to the floor.

Next time your up that way look at camping at Lockett Meadow. You'll be inside the calder of the volcano that forms the San Francisco Mts. If you look at the topography, it is very similar to Mt. Saint Helens.

There also some fun lava tunes around you can check out to get out of the heat for a little while.

Keep up the trip report videos.

Nice video there! Try to stick to landscape format, it shows more and is a lot nicer to the eyes...

Good point, every place (should) have a different biome. Thanks!

Photos are great, I like the one to the left for sure. But don't know if I could muster the courage to get into one of those. :)

Thank you, I appreciate that.
