The Peterson Range Ride
When: 5/20/18
Where: Peterson Range Jeep Trail north by northeast of Cold Springs
Meetup: Bordertown Casino parking lot off highway 395 north by Cold Springs. The facility has a gas station, little store, and restaurant with good breakfast.
Start: Meet at 10:00 am head out at 10:30 am Sharp.
How to get there: From Reno take Hwy 395 north 8 miles, take exit 83, make left turn on the overpass and cross the highway, make right and go short distance to Bordertown Casino.
Trail report: The trail is about 17 miles long of 4x4 Jeep track. Most of the trail is easy to moderate with a few places needing 4 wheel drive. Only one short section considered difficult and needing high clearance. There is a go around but might require you to drive a few miles around to meet back up with the group.
Time: 4 to 6 hours depending on stops and sightseeing.
Features: Magnificent scenic views looking towards the Sierra Nevada. Fun jeep trail with a few challenges. An old gold Mine. Wildlife, this is a mule deer winter habitat area, soaring eagles, and ravens.
