Essential Piece of Camping Equipment & Why?

So curious what people think about what they would deem a Essential piece of camping equipment and why
The usual suspects of Tent, Kettle and food aside..

What else would you class as being essential to make camp?
It will vary from region to region / country to country along with climate

I would say a bag of dryer lint, a box of fatwood, and a few lighters and flint strike. I would consider fore an essential. Just my .02

There are no wrong answers as we all have our own view on essential kit - but it would be good to see how people are thinking and collectively see what others are doing (as there are always great ideas for differnet ways / things to have)
