Easter Camping Trip - Reno, Nevada

@TheMcCalls is going to be making the trip down to Reno from WA to do some camping and I figured I would open the invitation to all of you!

When: April 13th-16th
Where: We will be mostly around Reno. We will do the Thomas Creek Trail, go out near Pyramid Lake/Nixon area and run the Carson River Trail. You can join in at anytime, we will be traversing 80/395 a couple of times so we can always meet you somewhere. If people would like me to post a more detailed schedule I would be more than happy.

Let me know if you can make it, the more the merrier!

Just bring her along. We can put Easter eggs along the trails and just tell her you're on an Easter egg hunt hahaha

I've been wanting to explore the Virginia Peak area near Nixon.

Yea, Chris isnt getting to Reno till about 8pm so I picked that so we wouldnt have to go far the first night

Are you thinking of the one off Timberline Drive? I don't know that you can camp up there. There's an upper trailhead, but it's near some private property with off grid houses. The road is gated just past the TH.

Oh really? Dang, I saw it in the Nevada trail book and it looked perfect. Bummer, guess its back to the drawing board

I was looking across from the ski area Sunday and I'm pretty sure Jumbo is snow free.

There are places you could camp up there.

The plan has changed a bit, we are gunna meet at the Nixon Store and then camp the first night at the MGL mill site then day 2 we are gunna play on the dried lake and then go camp for the night along Pyramid lake - you need to purchase a $15 camping permit and then day 3 we are gunna co to the carson river trail and camp there for the night
