hi over here in Europe the best system for looking after your duel batteries is a system called CTEK ,,they have a intelligent battery program system but can look after standard and AGM ...myself and a lot of my colleges use the CTEK duel charge system.. take a good look at theI read that article but somehow found it not that helpful.
I posted a question over on the “Rig Q & A” forum regarding the idea that batteries like this might need a special charger, but I have received no response. Link is below, if you care.
But I’ll watch this thread and maybe learn something.

No info on the battery but as far as space is concerned I have seen some mods made to put a second battery in the little useless space on the passenger side in the back. It was on one of the cherokee forums. It required reworking the whole panel but seemed to be a better use of the space. I cannot remember if it had a lead to the alternator, though that seems a bit of a run. Setting up a solar to something built in there would not be too complicated.I’m sure most of y’all with small vehicles have space issues. On my 98 XJ I have 0 space for two separate batteries so I was going to try an Odyssey or Northstar dual purpose battery which do y’all prefer?

I’m curious how it wasn’t helpful. It gave a breakdown of cranking amps and amp hours and cost. Once I figured out my load of all my auxiliary things I can decide what battery would work best.I read that article but somehow found it not that helpful.

One of the batteries isn’t made anymore, one isn’t dual purpose, the tests are looking at an extreme draw and not long-term usage, they have no information about historical failure rates or company history and reputation and, while they give a chart with some numbers, they really don’t give any conclusions or recommendations.I’m curious how it wasn’t helpful. You do make a good point they haven’t revisited it since the article. I look at it a different way, they just give you the performance #’s for each one and its price point. And as far as history and recommendations I base it off of customer reviews because most rigs are different and set up different they have different needs so it’d be hard to recommend. One of the batteries isn’t made anymore, one isn’t dual purpose, the tests are looking at an extreme draw and not long-term usage, they have no information about historical failure rates or company history and reputation and, while they give a chart with some numbers, they really don’t give any conclusions or recommendations.
They said they were going to use them for a year. That’s the info I want. What does someone who has used and bounced a battery for a year recommend.
