Hey guys I’m going to be looking into adding lights and a fridge to my truck hopefully in the near future and want to run a dual battery setup for my 2018 Chevy Silverado. Who sells a quality kit and are there different types? For example I’m looking for one that will not drain my starting battery when truck is turned off but then automatically charge when truck is running. Any info would be great thanks

Talk to Offgrid4x4.com. He makes kits specific to various Toyota/Lexus trucks but also has a kit for all applications (https://www.offgrid4x4.com/collections/dual-battery-systems/products/diy-dual-battery-system). When I was talking to Matt in the shop he had an umber of American trucks in for work.

Hey Polax,

There's a great write up and video on gm-trucks.com from a member named Tenscourt. His write up shows all the parts needed and where he purchased it. Here's the link for both his write up and video.
Dual Battery Install
Video

In fact, I just installed my dual battery system using "tenscourt's" writeup about a month ago and all went well. Like him, I have a Blue Sea ACR(Auto Charging Relay) to isolate my batteries. Here's a pic.

It is currently running an ARB 50Qt fridge. I am working on a rocker switch panel system in the back of my truck to control rear lights, side lights, truck cap interior lights, and two sets of powerpole connectors to run various things.

If you need any help after reading his write up, let me know. Good luck.

I have a Genesis dual battery system and I love it it monitors your start battery and won’t let it get to low and you can run your winch and other accessories off of the other battery. I had left my Jeep parked and the start battery was dead so you can turn the key on and go around under the hood and jump your truck off of the other battery.

Hey Polax,
I had to purchase the tray, bolt and wedge. There are websites that have them for far cheaper than going to the local Chevy parts department. I can get you the website I used if you like? Let me know.

The install was really straight forward. Only hard part for me was to route the ARB power cable into the cab. I ended up using a wire hanger to fish it through the rubber boot in the firewall.

Thank you beeeceee that's great info were you able to use your extra battery tray or did you have a to get a different one?

Hey Polax,

I got they battery tray, bolt, and retainer from gmpartsgiant.com. I went with them since it was zero tax and only $12 to ship to CA. There were cheaper sites but the shipping was really expensive. YMMV. Good luck.
