Dual battery install

I am installing a power tray, Switch-Pros and dual battery in my 5th Gen 4Runner. Does anyone have any suggestions on an pure sine wave inverter? The market is filled with them but I prefer to get some advice before purchasing one.

What does that do?

A Pure sine Wave Inverter is used to convert 12v DC to 110v AC current so you can run electronics from a car battery. You can get less expensive inverters for motors running fans etc but devices like computers, modern battery chargers, and Medical devices (like CPAP Machines) need clean sine wave AC power to avoid damage and run properly.

Thanks for the input. Boort is correct. My son uses a CPAP machine and I want to take him on longer adventures. This setup will allow us to explore more out of the way places. I also have a solar panel setup to help keep everything charged.

Thanks for info. Is it similar to a normal DC to AC inverter then? My trucks inverter does that.

Yes performs the same duty as a normal DC to AC inverter. Difference is quality of the output AC power. Think of it in terms of resolution a low end Inverter can be had for ~$20 but its output is blocky like graphics of a very old video game.

A Pure Sinewave Inverter is more modern technology and produces output that is a much better match for each of the curves:

Motors and Older tech is just fine using the Modified Sine wave output but modern tech is more refined and finicky about it's power requirements.

Hi unfortunately I have no advice for you. I'm new to the overlanding. I would like to see your dual battery setup after you're done with it. I as well have a Toyota 4Runner. I want to install a dual-battery setup as well.

So far I have relocated everything and will be connecting everything this week. That is the plan but the Misses may change that plan.

Almost that easy if you want to charge the battery with the engine an ACR (automatic charging relay) is needed. Make sure it can handle your alternator output. Adding this ensures your main battery doesn’t drain and leave you stranded without enough power to start your vehicle. They aren’t expensive.
