Hello, I was just wondering how many people her made their own drawers or sleeping platforms. I have a little construction background and was considering designing my own sleeping platform for inside of my IsuZoo. I didn't want to go with a RTT because of how conspicous that can be. I was thinking tint the back windows and make some magnetic bug screens for the windows and I would be able to "camp" in roadside rests and lots, on the way to adventures. I don't mind so much paying to camp but I often find myself on a tight time budget and often need to get to where I am going with as little time wasted as possible.

Thanks,
Nelson

I made a platform with underneath storage for our Grand Canyon trip a couple years ago. It was definitely a compromise on space as the platform itself takes up some storage space and the storage space leave us with little headroom when sleeping. But it worked. I got rid of it because we have a baby now and its just not feasible to sleep all three of us back there. And since we needed more space to sleep I ditched the platform and do just storage back there now. I would like one of the hard shell RTTs that collapse really thin and aerodynamic.

The biggest issue I've ran into when designing a drawer/sleeping platform was that I was worried with an air mattress I'd be too cramped in the bed of the truck. With the mock up I did, it felt like I was in a coffin since I was so close to the top of the topper and it made me feel claustrophobic. I'm working on design 2.0 right now where I won't be making the drawers as tall and I'll be using a thinner mattress.

Just something to consider since I didn't at first.

Saw in another thread some Shade Sox. Available on amazon. It is a screen that you pull over your door windows. I have not tried them, but thought they looked like they would serve the purpose pretty well for privacy when doing and overnight in the car. I will be purchasing soon.
