Yep... Carhartt is made in the US still.

For me, the country of origin is a consideration, but almost never a deal breaker - it's about the quality. Though... I must say, I haven't been drinking Russian Vodka since Putin moved on the Ukraine.

Ha ha drink liverpool gin you wont go far wrong , for me a company that moves its production has lost its Major asset Its workforce , I buy from many countries For a reason i beleave in the product made by the people of the country of origin The only reason to move production is ££££$$$ €€€€. No other reason I asked about cahart because its cracking work gear Ive towed a qaud bike out of mud with a bib and brace

Keep in mind that the bulk of a garment can be made in Bangladesh but if it is assembled for market in Italy, the country of origin will be Italy.

The world is pretty well globalized so at this point I just look for brands that have good quality and do not have a new style coming out every two weeks. When they are on a multi season schedule like many designer brands the excess that doesn't sell gets dumped in 3rd world countries and destroys any local textile industries and the economic development that supports it.

Just some info I gathered from some research papers while taking a sustainability course and experience from being in retail management.

I try to buy local when I can, and I've taken to keeping an eye on Boston's second hand market (it's amazing how many people get rid of good wool, and the student population in this city drops hardwood furniture and new speakers roughly once a semester)

But in general, I'm just out of grad school, a good price takes high marks.

Country of origin can be a deciding factor for me. It's getting harder and harder to find quality now. And, ummm, watch carhartt also. Made in Mexico is stamped in a lor of their clothes now, and I've seen Made in China on a few carhartt items. Always check the tag!

I only buy a Toyota that is made entirely in Japan. There seems to be a difference. You have to check the VIN to be sure.

Now theres my point it seems certain countrys excell in certain manufacturing indusries and not in others i pick and choose , Chinese stainless steel is crap , japaneese seems to be excellent as is british but the brits dont do snowpeak my point is not rasist its down to qality , i purchased a sleepning bag system ex dutch special forces dont know the country of origin no tag but the qaulity is outstanding , yes some material are imported then garments are put together in differant countrys , but i like to buy certain things that have a history and a certain record i must be a dinosar , but it works for me , the jacket 20 years old and still going strong MADE IN THE USA

I am trying to watch how I word this because it could come out very wrong. I do not want to start a verbal bashing session.

Australians (some) are saying the same thing about our car industry, oh sorry we do not have one anymore. :grinning:

Ford and Holden (GM) are going to no longer build cars in Australia, but import them from America. So is America, Australia's new China? <tongue in cheek>

Lets take landrover as an example , the early models were well constructed , then came an era of lack of investment and poor qaulity yet the product survives to this day all be it having a certain reputation , the 80 seriers landcrusiers are sought after to this day holding a price yet the later models are a poor version my mechanic tells me , it all about reputation and build qaulity , the austrialins seem to like the 79 series as do i but its rare in the uk with models fetching a high price , i think country of origin plays a bit part in all purchases

The importing of materials has always gone on ,its the final product and choise of materials plus its constuction and care in the manufacturing that make a good product , there are many makes of coolar box and fridges yet we all favour a few why REPUTATION we all read and write reviews thats why i joined this site to glean information from many countries with prople using different trucks and gear . As globelisation has made the world smaller .in many ways its made it bigger opening doors to products and ideas. The countrys we want to explore are diverse and so are there people Some one buys a product And its relivent to overlanding id like to know, Tried and tested !or just off the internet from a site aint enough for me

Yep! LOL

But from what I've seen, the Texas made Toyota trucks are solid. If you are in San Antonio, that is a fun tour...at least for me, I find industrial machinery interesting. Most of it is automated with crews on standby when things need to be tweaked.
